SynopsisTumorextentassessmentofNPCiscriticalfordelineatingtheradio-therapeutictargetregion.Weaimedtoinvestigatetheuseofthefusionimagesoffatsuppressed(FS)-T2witharterialspinlabeling(ASL)inmeasuringthevolumeofNPC.Twoobserversmeasuredthevolumeof21untreatedNPCusingFS-T2,FS-T2/ASL(withPLD=1.0,1.5and2.0s)fusionimagesandenhanced-T1WIseparately.ComparedtothoseobtainedusingFS-T2alone,measurementsmadeusingFS-T2/ASLweremoreconsistentwiththosemadeusingenhanced-T1WI.TheFS-T2/ASLfusionimagehasthepotentialtobeanalternativetoenhanced-T1WI,whencontrastadministrationcannotbeperformed.
PurposeNasopharyngealcarcinoma(NPC)isatypeofmalignantheadandnecktumor.Imagingisneededtoassesstheextentofthetumorforstaginganddelineatingthetargetregionofradiotherapy.InMRI,contrastenhancedT1hasadvantagesinNPCdiagnosisandstagingduetotheimprovedcontrastnoiseratiobetweentumorandsurroundingtissue(suchasfatandmuscle)1,itisalsotheonlyMRexaminationre
